Love & Art-Valentine's Explosion Box

Hi everyone! I am excited to share my first project as a Creative Team Member for Aunty Vera Scrap And Craft for 2018, using the February Kit, Love & Art.
This kit is beautiful with lots of different shades of pink.
For my first project, I have a Valentine's Explosion Box. I hope I  inspire you to make one because it was a lot of fun.

 Here is the finished Box.

I measured everything in inches. For the construction of the Explosion Box, I used black cardstock 240gsm.  (However, for the purpose of this tutorial I used pink cardstock to make it easier to view.)To create the box use 12" x 12" black cardstock. Score at 4", rotate and score at 4" again repeat twice. It should look like the image below.

Next  cut off the four outer squares and fold along score lines.

For the inner base, cut  6" x 6" square, score at 11/8" rotate, score again, rotate and repeat  twice. Cut as shown in the images below.

To create lid cut a 71/8" x 71/8" square, score at  14/8" on all 4 sides. Snip the outer squares on one side just like the inner base
I used the papers from the collection to decorate the lid, box and inner base. Note: I like to show a border so I cut all  my patterned pieces slightly smaller than the black cardstock.

Glue the flaps to the inside of lid and do the same to the inner base.  Glue the inner base to the inside bottom of the box. See picture below.

Finally, I decorated the box with some ribbon I had in my collection and one of the beautiful heart charms that came with the kit, which I glued onto two small paper hearts. I hope you enjoyed my first project. I know I will enjoy ringing the bell when hubby is home. It was a lot of fun to create and share with all of you.
Happy Crafting
